Carl Bartlett, Jr. is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and music educator, from New York City. A versatile performer on many instruments ranging from the alto and tenor saxophones, to flute and clarinet, Carl’s playing style incorporates genres such as Jazz, R&B, Latin, Gospel, and Concert Band Music. In 2015-2016 Carl became the 1st Place Winner in the USA, 2nd in the
world, in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition (ISC), Jazz Category, out of 18,500 entries from 120 countries, for his original composition, “Quantum Leaps (And Bounds)”.
A 2004 graduate of the esteemed Manhattan School of Music, on a 90% four-year scholarship, where he earned his Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Jazz Alto Saxophone Performance, Carl has since released two critically acclaimed albums as a bandleader, “Hopeful”, and “PROMISE!”. He has toured the USA with his ensemble, The Carl Bartlett, Jr. Quartet/Quintet, and is prevalent on the NYC tristate area music scene, performing at major Jazz clubs, cultural venues, and music festivals.
Carl is passionate about performing, and has a zest for teaching private music lessons to students in New York. His 18 plus years of experience in giving instruction have produced excellent results in overall performance levels in the classroom and one on one. “Making a positive impact in students’ lives through the gift of music, increasing their skills, and developing their creativity and
